Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer (1984)

The school festival is coming up at Tomobiki High School. Ataru and Princess Lum, along with a few other pupils, are helping to prepare the scenery and props for a theatre play from the Second World War that is to be performed the following day. However, when the day never seems to end, they soon begin to suspect that they are trapped in a kind of time loop.

When they try to break out of this cycle by going home instead of spending the night at the school as planned, they realise that they end up not far from the school again and can’t get beyond the city limits. For Ataru, Lum and the people around them, a series of mysterious and brutal events begin, in a scenario where the boundaries between dream and reality become increasingly blurred. But what is the origin of this increasingly grotesque situation?

An der Tomobiki-Oberschule steht das Schulfestival bevor. Ataru und Prinzessin Lum helfen mit einigen anderen Schülern dabei, Kulisse und Requisiten für ein Theaterstück aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg vorzubereiten, das tags darauf aufgeführt werden soll. Als der Tag jedoch kein Ende nehmen will, keimt in den Betroffenen bald der Verdacht, dass sie in einer Art Zeitschleife gefangen sind.

Als sie, um aus diesem Kreislauf auszubrechen, nach Hause gehen wollen, anstatt wie geplant in der Schule zu übernachten, müssen sie feststellen, dass sie wieder unweit der Schule landen und nicht über die Grenzen der Stadt hinaus kommen. Für Ataru, Lum und ihr Umfeld beginnt eine Reihe von mysteriösen und kruden Vorfällen, in einem Szenario, bei dem die Grenzen zwischen Traum und Realität immer fließender werden. Doch was ist der Ursprung dieser Situation, die immer grotesker wird?

Lamu es una extraterrestre que vive en la tierra junto a su querido Ataru (y los amigos de este). Todo empieza en un, aparentemente, día normal en el que se esta preparando el festival escolar de mañana. Pero ese mañana nunca llega. Este extraño hecho junto con otros más extraños (desapariciones, escasez de recursos para sobrevivir) afectaran al grupo de amigos de Lamu y Ataru. Pronto descubrirán que todo es consecuencia de un sueño.
