#1The story is something seen before many times. It goes back to at least 1843, which was when "The Ugly Duckling" was first published. But this variation is disappointing.
It's about a knight attending a magic school and aiming to be among the best mages of the world, despite the fact that he cannot use magic. Furthermore it is very simplistic in its world building. There are characters that support the ugly duckling and then there are ones that hate his guts. Both feel like templates that weren't properly fleshed out, only existing to have the protagonist stand out. They'll act irrational to create conflict, serving as plot devices and not real characters, which is tiresome to see.
On the plus side, the animations aren't merely phoned in. There's some cool stuff, but it feels unpolished and dips in quality especially later on. Even if it was amazing throughout, it wouldn't have been able to save this poorly written copypasta of better stories.
