Hagane no Renkinjutsushi (2003)

The alchemists Edward Elric and his younger brother Alphonse, who is bound to a suit of armour due to a tragic accident, are searching for the Philosopher’s Stone, for which they are travelling through a world where the military is the supreme order. That this kind of government, although it appears otherwise, doesn’t really act fairly is something both of them are to find out only in the course of their journey. However, they soon find out that this is the least of their worries and that they have far more threatening problems to deal with.

Die Alchemisten Edward Elric und sein jüngerer Bruder Alphonse, der durch einen tragischen Umstand an eine Rüstung gebunden ist, sind auf der Suche nach dem Stein der Weisen und reisen dafür durch eine Welt, in der das Militär die oberste Ordnung darstellt. Dass diese Art von Regierung, obwohl sie einen anderen Anschein erweckt, nicht wirklich gerecht handelt, sollen beide erst im Verlauf ihrer Reise herausfinden. Jedoch finden sie bald heraus, dass dies eher ihre geringste Sorge ist und sie noch weitere wesentlich bedrohlichere Probleme zu lösen haben.

I fratelli Elric, Edward e Alphonse, vivono con la madre nel villaggio di Resembool. Dopo essere stati abbandonati dal padre, un famoso alchimista, anche Ed ed Al iniziano a studiare questa affascinante scienza. La morte della madre li costringe però ad infrangere un tabù: farla risorgere utilizzando l’alchimia. Ma durante la trasmutazione qualcosa va storto e i due fratelli pagano un prezzo molto alto per le loro azioni. Al perde tutto il corpo, ma la sua anima viene legata a un armatura che gli permette di restare tra i vivi, mentre Ed perde una gamba e un braccio. Così i due fratelli partono alla ricerca della Pietra Filosofale per cercare di riuscire a recuperare i loro corpi. Una lunga avventura che li porterà a scoprire verità sconvolgenti sul loro mondo e sul loro passato e che insegnerà loro il prezzo delle proprie azioni.
