Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 (2012)

In 2199, little is left of humanity, as the once beautiful Earth and its vibrant landscape have been bombed and destroyed by an alien race called the Gamilos. The surviving humans have fled to underground cities and will probably only survive the radiation penetrating from the surface for another year.

But just as the situation seems hopeless, young officers Susumu Kodai and Daisuke Shima learn that on the distant planet of Iscandar exists a technology that could be used to defeat the Gamilos and restore Earth. This so-called “Cosmo Reverse System” must now be obtained at all costs. Therefore, the remaining forces are transferred to the advanced spaceship Yamato to begin the long and dangerous journey. 168,000 light-years separate the motley crew, each with their own strengths and weaknesses and their hard-boiled captain Juuzou Okita from this planet. Will they be able to save humanity?

Im Jahr 2199 ist von der Menschheit nur noch wenig übrig, da die einst schöne Erde, mitsamt ihrer lebendigen Landschaft, von einer außerirdischen Rasse, die sich Gamilas nennen, bombardiert und vernichtet wurde. Die überlebenden Menschen sind in unterirdische Städte geflohen und werden die von der Oberfläche aus eindringende Strahlung vermutlich nur noch ein Jahr lang überleben.

Doch als die Lage schon völlig aussichtslos erschien, erfahren die jungen Offiziere Susumu Kodai und Daisuke Shima, dass sich auf dem fernen Planeten Iscandar eine Technologie befinden soll, mit der man die Gamilas besiegen und die Erde wiederherstellen könnte. Dieses »Cosmo Reverse System« gilt es nun um jeden Preis zu erlangen. Die verbliebenen Kräfte werden daher in das fortschrittliche Raumschiff Yamato transferiert, um die lange und gefährliche Reise anzutreten. 168000 Lichtjahre trennen die bunt zusammengewürfelte Mannschaft, in der jeder seine eigenen Stärken und Schwächen mitbringt, sowie ihren hartgesottenen Kapitän Juuzou Okita von diesem Planeten. Wird die Rettung der Menschheit gelingen?

Anno 2199. La razza umana è stata quasi annientata dalla civiltà aliena del pianeta Gamilas attraverso il sistematico bombardamento della superficie con bombe termonucleari altamente radioattive. I sopravvissuti sono stati costretti a rifugiarsi in città sotterranee, ma gli scienziati stimano che potranno continuare a vivere al massimo per un altro anno, poiché la radioattività penetra sempre più in profondità. Inoltre, l’ultima flotta terrestre viene annientata nella battaglia di Plutone. L’ultima speranza per gli umani è rappresentata da una misteriosa tecnologia, donata da un lontano pianeta, Iscandar. Da quel mondo la regina Starsha invia sua sorella in una missione disperata per consegnare ai terrestri i progetti per costruire un motore interstellare, la tecnologia ’a onde moventi’, e consentire loro di raggiungere il suo pianeta che si trova dall’altro lato della galassia. La marina spaziale terrestre decide allora di trasformare in corazzata spaziale il relitto della nave da battaglia giapponese Yamato, affondata dagli americani alla fine della Seconda guerra mondiale. I giovani ufficiali Susumu Kodai e Daisuke Shima partono con la potentissima corazzata spaziale alla volta di Iscandar per recuperare la tecnologia con cui salvare la Terra dalla radioattività. Ma per portare a termine la loro missione, avranno soltanto un anno di tempo e dovranno attraversare combattendo l’enorme impero di Gamilas.
