Glass no Hana to Kowasu Sekai (2016)

“Garakowa -Restore the World-” is about two girls, Dual and Dorothy, who do their work in a special universe, the Box of Wisdom. The special thing: the two are special anti-virus programs that hunt down and destroy viruses in this virtual cosmos full of simulated worlds day in and day out; it often happens that an affected world has to be wiped out at the same time.

They do this work without stopping, without questioning – until one day, after a successful mission, they meet a girl named Remo, an unidentified programme. Remo has only one goal in mind: she must return to the Flower Garden. Even though Dual and Dorothy can’t do much with it at first, and Remo’s background seems rather nebulous, they decide to help her in her search. During their journey together, the two learn more about Remo’s purpose of existence and learn to appreciate things they never even paid attention to before.

Das Besondere: Die beiden sind spezielle Antivirenprogramme, die in diesem virtuellen Kosmos voller simulierter Welten tagein, tagaus Viren jagen und vernichten; dabei kommt es des Öfteren vor, dass eine betroffene Welt gleich mit ausgelöscht werden muss.

Diese Arbeit verrichten sie ohne Unterlass, ohne zu hinterfragen – bis sie eines Tages nach einer erfolgreichen Mission auf ein Mädchen namens Remo, ein unidentifiziertes Programm, treffen. Remo hat nur ein Ziel vor Augen: Sie muss zurück zum Blumengarten. Auch wenn Dual und Dorothy zunächst wenig damit anfangen können und Remos Hintergrund reichlich nebulös wirkt, beschließen sie, ihr bei der Suche zu helfen. Während ihrer gemeinsamen Reise erfahren die beiden mehr über Remos Daseinszweck und lernen Dinge zu schätzen, denen sie vorher nicht mal Beachtung schenkten.
