Vulcanion möchte normalerweise lieber alleine sein, aber nachdem es bei einem heftigen Kampf verletzt hatte und mit einer Fußfessel versehen vom Himmel gestürzt war, kann es sich erst einmal nicht mehr von Ash trennen, da dieser beim Aufprall durch die Fessel mit ihm verbunden wurde. Daher setzen sie in Begleitung von Serena, Citro, Heureka und Pikachu ihre Reise in eine Stadt voller Räderwerke gemeinsam fort. Dort haust ein korrupter Minister, der eine Erfindung gestohlen hat, womit man das bereits vor 500 Jahren erschaffene Fabrikat-Pokémon Magearna erschaffen kann. Mithilfe von Magearnas Kraft will dieser Minister das vollmechanische Königreich, in dem Ash gelandet ist, übernehmen. Nun stellt sich die Frage, ob sich Ash und Volcanion zusammenreißen können, um gemeinsam Magearna zu retten. Es entbrennt einer der gewaltigsten Kämpfe in der ganzen Pokémon-Geschichte.
