Kandagawa Jet Girls (2019)

“Kandagawa Jet Girls” plunges us into a world dominated by water sports. “Jet racing” is the name of the new sport in which teams of two, consisting of a jet skier and a shooter, turn local rivers into wild racetracks. The goal, however, is not only to cross the finish line before the other team but also to shoot as many pieces of clothing off the opponents’ bodies as possible! One of the most notable athletes of this sport was Rin Namiki‘s late mother. Thus, it is not surprising that Rin, who has always admired her mother, is following in her footsteps and wants to become a jet racing professional herself. Therefore, she transferred to the Asakusa girls’ high school in Tokyo, where the Kanda River, the most famous venue for jet races, is located.

But no sooner had she arrived in Tokyo than the klutz from the countryside makes one mistake after the other … An attempted theft and several wrong turns later, she has finally made it to her new dorm, where she, much to her delight, finds out that her roommate is none other than Misa Aoi, the girl who helped her retrieve her stolen bag a few hours ago! Although the lively Rin is anything but a blessing for the quiet Misa, she can’t completely escape her charm either, and so she also can’t say “no” when Rin gets into a fight with jet racing diva Kaguya Shinjuuin and is promptly challenged to a race …

In »Kandagawa Jet Girls« tauchen wir ein in eine Welt, die vom Wassersport dominiert wird. »Jet Racing« nennt sich die neuartige Sportart, bei der Zweierteams, bestehend aus einem Jetski-Fahrer und einem Schützen, die lokalen Flüsse zu wilden Rennstrecken machen. Doch Ziel ist es hierbei nicht nur, vor dem anderen Team die Ziellinie zu überfahren, sondern den Gegnern dabei auch noch so viele Kleidungsstücke wie möglich vom Leib zu schießen! Eine der bedeutendsten Athletinnen dieses Sports war auch Rin Namikis mittlerweile verstorbene Mutter. So ist es auch nicht verwunderlich, dass Rin, die ihre Mutter stets bewundert hat, nun in ihre Fußstapfen treten und selbst ebenfalls ein Jet-Racing-Profi werden möchte. Dafür wechselte sie an die Asakusa-Mädchenoberschule in Tokio, denn hier ist der Kanda-Fluss, der berühmteste Austragungsort für Jet Races.

Doch kaum in Tokio angekommen, macht der Tollpatsch vom Lande einen Fehler nach dem anderen … Ein versuchter Taschendiebstahl und etliche falsche Abbiegungen später, hat sie es endlich in ihr neues Wohnheim geschafft und darf zu ihrem Entzücken feststellen, dass ihre Zimmergenossin keine andere als Misa Aoi ist, die ihr vor einigen Stunden noch half, ihre gestohlene Tasche wiederzubekommen! Für die in sich gekehrte Misa ist die aufgeweckte Rin zwar alles andere als ein Segen, doch so ganz kann sie sich ihrem Charme nicht entziehen und so kann sie auch nicht »nein« sagen, als Rin sich mit der Jet-Racing-Diva Kaguya Shinjuuin anlegt und prompt zu einem Rennen herausgefordert wird …

Nell’anime «Kandagawa Jet Girls» ci immergiamo in un mondo dominato dallo sport acquatico. «Jet racing» si chiama il nuovo sport nel quale squadre a due, costituite da un conducente jetski ed un tiratore, fanno diventare piste da corsa i fiumi locali. Ma l’obiettivo non è solo arrivare primi ma di tirare via al concorrente così tanti vestiti come possibile. Una delle atlete più importanti di questo sport era la madre ormai deceduta di Rin Namiki. Così a nessuno sembra strano che Rin, che ha sempre ammirato la madre, voglia ora mettersi nelle sue ombre e diventare anche lei una professionista nel jet racing. Per ottenere ciò cambia scuola e inizia a frequentare la scuola superiore per ragazze Asakusa in Tokyo, perché è qui che si trova il fiume Kanda, luogo importante per jet races.

Appena arrivata a Tokyo, maldestra, fa un errore dietro l’altro. Un tentativo di scippo e varie svolte sbagliate più tardi, finalmente trova il suo dormitorio. Per sua gioia vede che la sua compagna di stanza è Misa Aoi che qualche ora prima le aveva aiutato a ricuperare la sua borsa scippata! Per la timida Misa, la frizzante Rin non è proprio una benedizione, però neanche riesce a sottrarsi al fascino della ragazza. Questo la porta a non riuscire a dire «no» quando Rin si prende con la diva del jet racing, Kaguya Shinjuuin, e la sfida ad una gara.

Il 25 settembre 2019 è stata diffusa la prima puntata tramite la funzione streaming di YouTube e NicoNico. Nella TV giapponese la prima puntata di questo titolo è stata rilasciata l’8 ottobre.
