Megazone 23 (1985)

In “Megazone 23 Part 1”, racer Shougo Yahagi has some trouble on his hands. The military is after him, the government can’t and won’t help him, and his new motorbike is so sought after that it could soon cost him his life! But that’s just the beginning of his problems: The world in which Shougo and his friends have spent their entire lives is not what it seems, and now their only hope is an artificial intelligence. This one seems to know the truth about the fate of humanity.

Annotation:
The US theatre release combined this OVA with stock footage from “Robotech Masters” and new footage from “Robotech: The Movie”. It was later released on VHS outside the US. However, in DVD releases of “Robotech: The Movie”, all footage from this OVA has been removed due to licensing restrictions. Releases sold as “Megazone 23 Part 1” are unedited and without the extra “Robotech”-footage.

Das Militär ist hinter ihm her, die Regierung kann und will ihm nicht helfen und sein neues Motorrad ist so begehrt, dass es ihm schon bald das Leben kosten könnte! Aber das ist nur der Anfang seiner Probleme: Die Welt, in der Shougo und seine Freunde ihr ganzes Leben verbracht haben, ist nicht die, die sie zu sein scheint, und nun ist ihre einzige Hoffnung eine künstliche Intelligenz. Diese scheint nämlich die Wahrheit über das Schicksal der Menschheit Bescheid zu wissen.
