Deep Insanity: The Lost Child (2021)

In “Deep Insanity: The Lost Child”, there is a mysterious world deep beneath Antarctica – the Asylum. People who call themselves Sleepers delve into the depths to investigate this world and its utterly alien biosphere but also to loot its valuable resources. For quite some time already, this place has been explored and exploited by these paramilitary organisations, yet the existence of the Asylum remains largely unknown to the people. Only the so-called Randolph syndrome leaked to the public, a novel type of disease that causes previously healthy people to fall into a deep, coma-like sleep from which they can no longer wake up on their own. But it’s not only this disease troubling the exploration teams – many other dangers lurk in the Asylum, which the Sleepers take on in order to unveil the secrets of the Asylum.

Since it is not uncommon on these expeditions for Sleepers to lose their lives, the organisation Antarctica Front is recruiting using a new ploy: advertisements are running on large screens in the middle of big cities, promising that one would do something good for the future if one joins the said organisation. While Sleeper Leslie Blanc vents to his commander Vera Rustamova about this, in his eyes, impudent publicity, which allegedly puts the Sleepers in a bad light, it seems to be showing effect; soon after, Shigure Daniel Kai reports to duty and proclaims right at his job interview that he wants to become a hero! But it’s not supposed to be that easy because the dangers are not only lurking down there in the shape of bloodthirsty monsters but also outside the Asylum in the form of strange intricacies and conspiracies that Shigure involuntarily gets involved in.

In »Deep Insanity: The Lost Child« existiert tief unter der Antarktis eine mysteriöse Welt – das Asylum. Menschen, die sich Sleeper nennen, steigen hinab in die Tiefen, um diese Welt und ihre völlig fremdartige Biosphäre zu erforschen, aber auch, um ihre wertvollen Rohstoffe zu erbeuten. Bereits seit geraumer Zeit wird dieser Ort von diesen paramilitärischen Organisationen erkundet und ausgebeutet, dennoch bleibt die Existenz des Asylums den meisten Menschen unbekannt. Nur das sogenannte Randolph-Syndrom drang an die Öffentlichkeit, eine neuartige Krankheit, die bewirkt, dass zuvor gesunde Menschen in einen tiefen, komaähnlichen Schlaf fallen, aus dem sie aus eigener Kraft nicht mehr erwachen können. Doch nicht nur diese Krankheit macht den Erkundungsteams zu schaffen – viele weitere Gefahren lauern im Asylum, welche die Sleeper in Kauf nehmen, um die Geheimnisse des Asylums zu lüften.

Da es bei diesen Expeditionen nicht allzu selten vorkommt, dass Sleeper ihr Leben lassen, wirbt die Organisation Antarctica Front mit einer neuen Masche: Auf großen Bildschirmen mitten in Großstädten laufen Werbespots, die verheißen, man würde etwas Gutes für die Zukunft tun, wenn man besagter Organisation beitritt. Während sich der Sleeper Leslie Blanc bei seiner Kommandantin Vera Rustamova über diese in seinen Augen unverschämte Werbung auslässt, welche die Sleeper angeblich in ein schlechtes Licht rückt, scheint diese allerdings ihre Wirkung zu zeigen; denn schon bald darauf meldet sich Shigure Daniel Kai zum Dienst und proklamiert gleich bei seinem Bewerbungsgespräch, ein Held werden zu wollen! Doch ganz so einfach soll es nicht werden, denn die Gefahren lauern nicht nur da unten in Gestalt von blutrünstigen Monstern, sondern auch außerhalb des Asylums in Form von merkwürdigen Verstrickungen und Verschwörungen, in die Shigure unfreiwillig hineingerät.
