あらすじ

Tetsurou and Maetel had travelled across the galaxy on the Galaxy Express 999 to end the rule of the Mechanised Empire. Having finally returned to Earth, Tetsurou hoped the Mechanisation would now gradually decline, but how wrong he was to be: a new ruler, Bolkazanda III, appeared with his motives unclear. Only one thing quickly becomes apparent: anyone who opposes his rule disappears underground.

Tetsurou, too, has fallen victim to this regime, eking out an existence in a cell below the surface and having to endure abuse from his guards until, one day, he is to be executed for an attempted escape. Just at that moment, the Galaxy Express 999 rushes to his rescue. Maetel and Tetsurou are now reunited, but the danger is by no means over. On one hand, all is not well with the intergalactic train, while on the other hand, the two soon find out that they are being hunted as wanted criminals. In the end, do the two have no choice but to flee, or can they do something about the impending fate of Tetsurou’s home?
