あらすじ

Together with other seekers, Cassandra is tasked with hunting down a group of mages. They have kidnapped a young elf girl named Avexis and are planning a magical ritual. The mission succeeds, but Cassandra’s companion, Byron, senses a conspiracy – and is proven right: no sooner do the two set off on their return journey with the rescued girl than they are ambushed. The girl is kidnapped again, while Byron’s passing reminds Cassandra one last time that retaliation is not the answer. A difficult matter, as Cassandra’s inner rage has long been one of her worst enemies.

When Cassandra meets the mage Regalyan, she is naturally more than a little suspicious, even though he poses as a contact of Byron. Gradually, suspicion fades, and the pair uncover a conspiracy that would mean a change of power at the top of the Church. Cassandra and Regalyan are soon held responsible for a murder they did not commit, and thus are threatened with beheading. Battling Templars and mages, the two must act quickly to prevent the worst from happening and, of course, prove their own innocence.
