ADV Manga was a division and label of the American company ADV Films, which specialized around the publication of manga. Right at its launch in the summer of 2003, it announced the licensing of 18 manga series. In January 2004, ADV Manga claimed to have already acquired licences for more than 1,000 manga volumes.
As early as 2004, however, the publisher began to scale back manga publishing: numerous titles were temporarily put on hold or canceled altogether. While ADV Manga still started individual new titles, Tokyopop USA began to republish individual cancelled manga from the label in 2006.
The last new volumes of ADV Manga appeared in late fall 2007. Business operations were maintained for a few more months, but in fall 2009, along with the parent company ADV Films, the company closed.
