Tokyopop Germany is a German publishing house founded in April 2004 and headquartered in Hamburg.

The publishing house is a subsidiary of the Japanese publisher Tokyopop K.K. with its headquarters in the Minato district of the city of Tokyo.

The first mangas were published in November 2004, the first anime followed in summer 2005. In 2006, the company entered into a strategic partnership with the Japanese publisher Shuueisha in order to obtain publications such as “Death Note” or “Bleach”. In addition to Japanese mangas, the publishing house also publishes OGL, such as “Gothic Sports”. Since its foundation, the publishing house has been very successful with its manga series in German-speaking countries. Since then, Tokyopop has been one of the largest and most successful manga publishers in Germany.

Der Verlag war Tochterunternehmen der US-amerikanischen POP Media Holdings und zuvor ein Tochterunternehmen des japanischen Verlages Tokyopop K.K. mit Hauptsitz im Bezirk Minato der Stadt Tokio.

Die ersten Mangas wurden im November 2004 veröffentlicht, der erste Anime folgte im Sommer 2005. Im Jahr 2006 ging das Unternehmen eine strategische Partnerschaft mit dem japanischen Verlag Shuueisha ein, um so an Veröffentlichungen wie »Death Note« oder »Bleach« zu kommen. Neben japanischen Mangas veröffentlicht der Verlag auch OGL, wie zum Beispiel »Gothic Sports«. Seit seiner Gründung ist der Verlag im deutschsprachigen Raum sehr erfolgreich mit seinen Manga-Reihen. Seither zählt Tokyopop zu den größten und erfolgreichsten Manga-Verlegern in Deutschland.
