説明
Egmont Manga, or EMA for short, is a manga label of the German publisher Egmont Ehapa Verlag.
The label emerged from Reiner Feest Verlag, which was bought up in 1991. The first publications were under the label Feest Comics and since 1994 under the label Feest Manga. The first publications included titles such as “Ghost in the Shell”, “Appleseed” and “Ranma ½”. At that time still strongly oriented towards American comics, these were first published in the American US comic book format.
The following years were not easy, however, and the label had a hard time surviving until 1997. Due to the great success of the TV series “Sailor Moon”, the label was also able to achieve great success with the help of the manga. With the Sailor Moon manga, the label opted for the Japanese tankobon format. The manga sold over two million copies, and so the label decided to publish future releases only in the Japanese tankobon format.
Immediately after the turn of the millennium, in October 2000, it was decided to rename the label. The new name was Egmont Manga & Anime, or EMA for short. At the end of 2012, Egmont decided to withdraw from the anime business and shortened the name to Egmont Manga.
