Las excursiones escolares de tres colegios femeninos japoneses coinciden en la Torre de Tokio. De pronto, ante tres chicas que no se conocen, Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki y Fuu Hououji, aparece una luz que les ciega y las transporta al cielo del planeta Cefiro, comienzan a caer al vacío cuando un pez volador gigante las recoge y les lleva al encuentro del Gurú Clef, quien les dice que son las Luchadoras de Leyenda, convocadas por la princesa Esmeralda, el Pilar de Cefiro, quien fue dejada cautiva por Zagato, su guardian personal. Las tres chicas convocadas inician así un camino para conseguir sus armas mágicas, desarrollar sus poderes, despertar a las Armaduras de Cefiro y demostrar así que son las verdaderas elegidas para salvar a ese planeta.
