Kinji Yoshimoto was a Japanese animator and animation director born on February 27, 1966, in Hiroshima Prefecture.

During his junior high school years, he became interested in anime after watching “Star Blazers”. Later, in his high school years, he eventually founded a fan club for the anime “Super Dimensional Fortress Macross”. He also supported a fan magazine and produced smaller animations. He also met Satoshi Urushihara in the process.

After graduating from high school, he took on a job as an animator at the animation studio Artland. He was involved as an animator on “Macross: Do You Remember Love” and “Megazone 23 Part 1”, among others. After working on “Megazone 23 Part II” and “Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise”, he started his own business. He started planning “Legend Of Lemnear” and was supported by Satoshi Urushihara. This OVA not only marked his debut as a director, but he also founded the animation studio EarthWork together with Urushihara.

He died on November 5, 2021, at the age of 55.

Ebenso unterstützte er eine Fan-Zeitschrift und produzierte kleinere Animationen. Dabei traf er auch auf Satoshi Urushihara.

Nach seinem Oberschulabschluss nahm er eine Stelle als Animator beim Animationsstudio Artland an. So war er unter anderem als Animator bei »Macross: The Movie« und «Megazone 23 Part 1« beteiligt. Nachdem er bei »Megazone 23 Part II« und »Wings of Honneamise: Eroberung des Universums« mitgewirkt hatte, machte er sich selbständig. Dabei machte er sich an die Planung von »Legend Of Lemnear« und wurde dabei von Satoshi Urushihara unterstützt. Mit dieser OVA hatte er nicht nur sein Debüt als Regisseur, sondern gründete auch zusammen mit Urushihara das Animationsstudio EarthWork.

Er starb am 5. November 2021 im Alter von 55 Jahren.
