EGOIST originally comes from the anime series “Guilty Crown”, where the main character Inori is the singer of this fictional band. The lyrics and music came from the band Supercell and were sung by chelly and Koeda respectively. The songs were mainly used as the opening or ending of Guilty Crown.
After the series ended but the music was still popular, ryo, head of Supercell and singer chelly decided to continue making music together. From then on, they successfully released more songs as EGOIST.
However, as chelly did not want to be recognized and the fans already knew her as the singing voice of Inori, they decided that she should remain the face of EGOIST.
The first album was released in September 2012 under the name Extra Terrestrial Biological Entities.
On October 9, 2023, EGOIST held their last concert and disbanded at the same time.
